The Scottish Storytelling Forum works with young people to encourage them to become storytellers. Not just as listeners, but tellers and active creators of story, able to harness their unbounded creativity. Storytelling is transformative. It's not just the story itself, but the active process of remembering a story structure and building on it with our own words, feelings, impressions and opinions that has this power. It boosts self confidence, provides active engagement with creative imagination and enhances communication skills. Maybe most importantly, it brings to life a young person's own family story, their own inheritance and place in the world. This lifts self-esteem and can provide pride of place and connection to community.
