Why Join the SSF?

By joining the Storytelling Forum, you will:

  • Be part of, contribute to and support an active community of practice
  • Receive a discount on all TRACS workshops and development days at the Scottish Storytelling Centre and elsewhere
  • Receive invitations to any special Forum events that take place
  • Have voting rights at our AGM: Our SSF Executive Committee is elected and works hard to promote the interests of storytelling
  • Find out what’s going on across the national network through our monthly newsletter, mailings and tweets
  • Receive the Scottish Storytelling Centre’s quarterly programmes by email (and by post if desired - nb international members receive emails only)
  • Promote your own activities and events: We are constantly informing members, official bodies, and the public of our members’ activities and events through social media, newsletters and news pages on our website, the wider media
  • Share your ideas: You can contribute to our newsletter, write a blog, attend our events, share information on Facebook and Twitter
  • Help to shape the thinking, the activities and the hands-on work of the Scottish Storytelling Forum's Executive Committee 
  • Make new connections and alliances: Through our events and our mailings you can connect up with other like-minded organisations and individuals
  • Be represented: The SSF is recognised as an important voice for the art of storytelling and a key resource for agencies such as Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government. TRACS staff attend a wide range of meetings and committees, ensuring that storytelling is understood and advocated for and that there is increasing access to storytelling across Scotland.

The SSF is made up of over 140 professional storytellers, storytelling apprentices and those who support the storytelling community in Scotland.

Trad Talk & Development Days

The SFF organises several networking and development events throughout the year, including the Storytelling Development Day and the annual the Trad Talk conference along with the Traditional Music Forum and the Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland.
