With a background of teaching, folksinging, storytelling, directing and a love to perform, Phyllis has created presentations for groups small to big, young to old, both in Scotland and Canada. These she continues to develop as she travels between her two homes.
An interactive, respectful, sociable performer who is relaxed with all audiences, Phyllis draws people into her telling, inviting them to join in songs, rhyme guessing or rhythm, and enjoy.
Phyllis has performed in schools; libraries; museums; community, art and senior day centres; festivals; worked as a teller/narrator/MC for staged shows; presented story/song talks for history and language societies, and developed storytelling café/dinner theatre. Two series of Scottish Tales were recorded by CBC radio.
Phyllis now focusses on Canadian, Scottish and Scottish-Canadian themes, combining storytelling and song with other art forms such as dance. She has also worked on environmental stories, poems and songsm and is very interested in both developing these themes further and taking on new challenges.
