Maggie Fraser tells stories from childhood – favourites like Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm, as well as traditional Scottish stories, Traveller tales and stories from other parts of the world. She particularly enjoys telling the wonder tales.
Introduced to storytelling through meeting the storyteller for the deaf, Barbara McDermitt, Maggie enjoys telling to and working with all age groups and is building up a programme for 2-4 year olds with activities to go along with the stories.
Born in Dundee, Maggie’s parents spent 10 years in India and some of the earliest stories she remembers are her father’s tellings of Rudyard Kipling’s Mougli stories. For over 4 years Maggie lived in South America, where her father’s work took them to Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo, but she returned to Scotland at the age of 16. For the last 15 years Maggie has been living at a 5 acre farm near Stonehaven with her husband and 4 children, growing organic produce.
Maggie has told stories in homes and resource centres for the elderly, a day centre for adults with special needs, at local schools and festivals as well as in venues such as Castles Fraser and Drum in Aberdeenshire.
