Certificate In Scottish Studies - An opportunity for traditional music

The Certificate in Scottish Studies was established in 2014 to allow students in schools and colleges the opportunity to study subjects which are Scottish orientated.  This reflects  demands to make the curriculum more Scottish.

The historic village of Falkland in Fife is about to experience an exciting weekend of traditional music when the fifth Falkland Traditional Music Festival takes place over the weekend of 23-25 June.  The festival includes a ceilidh dance, concerts, competitions (for accordion, fiddle, and song), workshops, and informal sessions.  One highlight of the weekend will be a  talk with entertaining music legend Cathal McConnell who will be ‘in conversation’ on Saturday morning.  Cathal will also be playing his flute and singing from his extensive repertoire of Ir

Performers Wanted: May Day Parade 6 May

Once again, TradFest folk will be taking part in the Edinburgh May Day parade. This event is less about massed Labour movements than it was, and it is trying to develop as a new force for bringing together progressive organisations, political, social and cultural. Everyone is warmly invited to join the TradFest part of the parade.

Tradfest has been involved for several years with Mummers and other folk dressing up and making our presence felt at the parade. Now is the time to try and develop this.
