This month we have a festive selection of Christmas entertainment that will enchant the whole family, from gingerbread nativities and mischievous Christmas cakes, to festive adventures with Sydney the platypus and Lapin the French rabbit.
On Tuesday 10th December bring your toddlers along to our Gingerbread Nativity. Storyteller, Renita Boyle, will tell the Nativity story with the help of her tasty gingerbread characters and then you and your child can spend time together decorating a gingerbread man to take home with you. This interactive storytelling session is a great way to spend time together as a family
The 10am slot has now sold out but there are still a few tickets left for the 11.30am slot.
Sydney the Platypus has travelled all the way from Australia to see snow for the first time, and he needs your help to show him around. Along the way you’ll encounter snowball fights, a Brussels Sprout Van Trap sing-a-long and a whole host of Glaswegian characters.
Created especially for 3-5year olds, Platypus in Boots is a fun-filled mix of music, comedy and puppetry based on the misunderstandings that can come from words – but is ultimately a celebration of differences. Take a look at these production pictures to see what's in store and have a wee listen to these tiny members of the audience telling us about their favourite part of the show.
On Friday 20th December we have an interactive festive adventure with the adorable French rabbit, Lapin. Lapin and his puppet friends go in search of Papa Noel to invite him for a hot chocolate, but will he have time to accept the invitation? The show is performed in English but peppered with French words throughout the story.
“The perfect introduction to a foreign language for tiny ones” (The List)
We have a Christmas party on Saturday 21st December hosted by the netmums.com favourite children’s party duo, It’s in the Bag. There will be Christmas games, stories and songs that will put the whole family into the festive spirit. Have a look at their facebook page to find out more!
Please note that the 12noon slot (for ages 3-6year) has sold out and there only a few places left on the 10.30 session (ages 0-2)
Join us for a comical tale about life in a very special bakery at The Edibles, a Christmas show full of magical ingredients especially created for 3-7 year olds. Set in a gingerbread house bakery, three bakers whip up a delicious three tier cake, but a rather hungry mouse steals parts of the cake causing all sorts of havoc!
“inventive hi-jinks with a cleverly-crafted design, deft puppetry and a whole-hearted serving of comedy mayhem from the cast. Second helpings? Yes please!” The Herald (****)
Take a look at the production shots for a delicious taster of what’s in store.
And Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas at the Scottish Storytelling Centre without Stories Round the Tree. On Friday 20th and Tuesday 31st December, get the family together and gather round our beautiful Christmas tree to listen to wintery tales and festive stories. This is a hugely popular event that will not only make you feel festive but is also great way to spend time together as a family.
We hope you and the family can join us for some Christmas cheer at the Scottish Storytelling Centre this December.
