RUNAWAY SLAVES IN BRITAIN

Sat 18 Nov

£8.00

Event Information Buy Tickets

Relatively little is known about the enslaved people who lived and died in 18th century Britain. Runaway slaves inadvertently generated records of themselves, when slave-owners placed advertisements in newspapers, describing people who are otherwise all but completely absent from historical records. The Runaway Slaves in Britain project has been uncovering and cataloguing these advertisements. Join us for a fascinating evening of discovery and storytelling, with Professor Simon Newman and storyteller Mara Menzies.
